Choosing a VR Headset

Virtual Hardware Team Project - Educators in VR

PAST EVENT

Large scale trends can be difficult to spot, but right now we seem to be in a big shift from VR headsets using Fresnel Lenses to those with Pancake Lenses. This meetup will look at the difference between these two lens types, and consider the best of the old Fresnel lens-based headsets & the first of the coming wave of new Pancake-lens based headsets. We hope this will help in choosing you next VR headset.

Companies are launching a wide variety of VR headsets and we're here to help sort through the confusion, rumors, and truths. We discuss the pros and cons of what's coming, and explore which headset you should consider to fit your needs.

We invite those passionate about VR headsets, controllers, VR labs, haptic controllers, augmented reality, and the wide diversity of immersive technology and hardware to join us to share their insights, thoughts, and excitement over the latest and greatest tech.

Educators in VR's Virtual Hardware Team meets regularly to discuss the technology and hardware behind our virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality experiences. Topics include VR labs, choosing headsets, budgets and funding, and exploring the hardware behind the technology as well as the safety challenges and impact of usage.

Educators in VR is dedicated to integrating VR, AR, and XR into education and business. We host over 800 VR free and paid events, classes, workshops, and conferences annually covering all aspects of education. Educators in VR was formed in 2018 when educators came together to solve their common challenges, and has grown to over 4,000 members from around the world, and over a dozen Team Projects (special interest groups).
