Using Analog Media Production Practices to Create Immersive Digital Content

Timothy Mitchell, Senior Technical Writer, Copper River Cyber Solution's Titans, Terrors, and Toys

Timothy Mitchell will review how current video production technology and common video production techniques can be used to create informative and immersive VR content. Even though videography is frequently overlooked when discussing the creation of virtual media, 3D 180 VR video can quickly and cheaply create a sense of telepresence while presenting informative content, thus encouraging student interest and retention of information. Furthermore, 3D 180 VR video can be used to take students to locations that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive to visit via field trips.

Tim Mitchell is a senior technical writer who lives in the Washington, D.C. area. A Pennsylvania native, Mr. Mitchell has over twenty years of diversified communication experience, including digital media production and writing for IT projects and government contract deliverables. Mr. Mitchell’s multi-disciplined background allows him to understand not only how IT systems are designed and developed, but also how the finished products provide practical applications to stakeholders in various settings. In his spare time, he publishes posts about the modern geek culture in his blog Titans, Terrors and Toys, and he posts 3D 180 VR videos on his YouTube channel MindEyeMedia.
