Drones, Digital Nature and Eye Tracking: Leveraging VR in Social Science

Jan-Willem van 't Klooster, managing director BMS Lab, University of Twente

What do drones, digital nature and eye-tracking have in common? They all can be studied in novel ways using VR. In this talk, Jan-Willem van 't Klooster will present their lab and show how it catalyses social science research using VR technologies. Learn about how this technology is used through various case study that show how to incorporate physiological measurements and eye-tracking.

Dr. Jan-Willem van 't Klooster is managing director of the BMS Lab, the faculty-central lab of the Faculty of Behavioral, Management and Social Sciences at the University of Twente. The BMS Lab provides students and researchers with a wide range of facilities such as physiological sensor systems for conducting experiments and research. Dr Jan-Willem holds a PhD in Computer Science and has published on using different types of technologies in healthcare. He was also involved in a project about using robots in education. His special interest is in promoting ICT usage in social science and his passion is investigating how to use new technologies such as drones, digital nature, and eye tracking for leveraging VR in Social Science.
