First Presentation

Use of VR in Phsychological Research

Lazaros Gonidis, Lecturer in Psychological Methods and Statistics, [University of Kent, School of Psychology

Lazaros Gonidis will discuss the use of VR technology in Psychological research for both carrying out research but also involving the students in the developing cycle.

Lazqaros Gonidis explores the effects that Virtual Reality immersion has on our time perception, perception of what is real, and decision making. Furthermore, whether immersion in artificial environments can affect our well-being and human-to-human interactions. His research focuses on online additions for social media, gaming, and gambling, and the psychological impact of VR technology.

Creating Engaging Immersive Educational Experiences

Ann Wright-Mockler, Sr. STEM Education Consultant, Battelle/Pacific NW National Laboratory

Ann Wright-Mockler, Nick Cramer, and Cameron Tynes will share lessons learned in collaborating to create engaging immersive educational experiences, including what they've learned by sharing virtual apps with students in classrooms and teacher workshops, and integrating spatial technologies for Computing Education and STEM Education and training.

Ann Wright-Mockler is a Senior STEM Education Consultant at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. As a teacher, she earned the National Board Certification and receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Her current work is focused on expanding and strengthening computing education for all students, including special projects in immersive (VR/AR) education and cybersecurity.

Nick Cramer, and Cameron Tynes are a part of the Pacific Northwest Laboratory team.

XR Super Girls

Maya Bartolf, Program Development| Community Engagment, XR Marin

Maya Bartolf is a leader in encouraging girls and young women to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) through the awesome potential of VR/XR. She will share how the XR Super Girls program is changing lives through innovative workshops, trainings, and programs in immersive technologies.

Maya Bartolf is getting the word out about the awesome potential of XR (Extended Reality), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and 360 Immersive Video. At XR Marin, Maya is developing an XR ecosystem in Marin County through academic programs and industry partnerships that will catalyze education to provide 21st-century high demand tech skills for college and career for students in Marin County. Maya is an entrepreneurial leader with extensive experience in program development, communication, fundraising, community outreach, and organizational leadership for a variety of non-profit, educational institutions, and leading tech companies including: IBM, Hughes Aircraft, USC, and The Asia Foundation in San Francisco. Maya continues to play a central role in developing academic and professional programs, identifying emerging opportunities, strategic niches, and relationships with academic stakeholders, local/national foundations, and community/industry partners. XR Super Girls is a new program that she is helping to launch which encourages girls and young women to pursue careers in STEAM through the awesome potential of XR.
