Virtual Reality for Paramedic Education

Lydia Abel, Student Paramedic, [Georgian College

"Virtual Reality & its Potential in Paramedic Education: Virtual reality is currently implemented as a training and simulation tool in the medical field to improve clinical skills. VR has the potential to provide students with a more realistic experience, and an elevated sense of presence. Lydia Abel will share how her team conducted research to determine if VR is valuable tool in conjunction with lab-based simulation in paramedic education.

We are a research team from Georgian College in Ontario, Canada: Lydia Abel, Andrea Christakakos, Nikita Thoi & Crystal White. We are currently studying Paramedicine in the PCP program. As a research team we have conducted a study into VR and its potential use for Paramedic Training. The study was presented at Georgian College Annual Paramedic Research Day (2019). We are also excited to present our research at RiSE 2020 and Fanshawe Paramedic Research Presentation Day 2020. Our research has also been submitted for publication in Canadian Paramedicine Journal.
