This week, come meet company member Idalmis Garcia Rodriguez, as she talks about her recent projects and growth as an artist.
Idalmis Garcia is a Cuban actress living in New York City. In her natal Havana she has been part of important Cuban films and has worked with well know film, TV and theater directors. Her credits in film include: "Sergio & Serguei", "Los Dioses Rotos", "Conducta" (Goya award nominee) from director Ernesto Daranas. Also "Larga Distancia" by Esteban Insausti. Her latest theater production in NYC was “Bienvenidos Blancos”, by Teamsunshine corporation as part of the Fringe Arts Festival in Philadelphia. In New York City she is a member of Actors Theater of New York City; with this company she was part of the immersive show Tennessee on Hudson. She worked with the theater company Repertorio Español, where she has been performing in productions such as: Hierba Mala nunca muere, “Aire Frio”, “El loco por fuerza”. She also has worked in immersive theatre experiences with companies such as: Punchdrunk (Sleep No More) and The Woodshed Collective, directed by Mikhael Tara Garver. Her theatre credits also includes several plays in Havana and Germany.
She soon will be seen in the Series “Placebo Heart”, by film director Rodney Ferrer and “Havana Darkness” by Guillermo Ivan.
With the British director Stephen Bayly (Richard III), she has been producing and assisting in several Productions in Havana. With director Ernesto Daranas she has been involved as Acting Coach, actress and assistant director in some of his films.
